Peru has just reopened the holy site of Machu Picchu with a grand scheme. This archaeological site welcomes the public with a splendid light show and a tribute ceremony attended by visitors. The group of tourists at this ceremony were the first to set foot in this Inca cultural reserve after 8 months the site had to be closed because of Covid-19.




On this re-opening occasion, Machu Picchu welcomes visitors from October 31. The current service capacity is only 675 guests per day, only 30% of the normal capacity. The venue will continue to accept a limited number of guests for the foreseeable future.


Opening the opening program was a colorful light show followed by a gratitude ceremony. There, the first guests expressed their gratitude to the land that preserves the Inca culture. 45 local artists participated in special performances. Messages and messages from fans and lovers of Machu Picchu from around the world were projected onto the citadel.




The event was attended by Tourism Minister RocĂ­o Barrios. He is the one who presented the "Safe Travel" seal for this UNESCO World Heritage site. The seal ensures that Machu Picchu and the area surrounding the site, including the restaurants, hotels and regional transport hubs, are following measures to protect the health and safety of the public. and visitors.


Mr. Barrios said: “Today I am very proud to entrust the Safe Travel seal to Machu Picchu. Tourists thinking of returning to this wonder can now rest assured that all biosecurity protocols are in place. Tourism is making a gradual and responsible return."




Peru is gradually restarting the tourism industry amid the Covid-19 pandemic that has not been completely extinguished in the world. Currently, this country has allowed many flights to and from major cities in the Americas. The Peruvian border has also accepted its first visitors. Peru is also considering resumption of flights to Europe in the near future.
