Vietnam and Singapore agreed to strengthen cooperation to facilitate entry of citizens in line with the epidemic situation of each side.

On October 1, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answering a reporter's question asking for information about Singapore's unilateral lifting of the border closure order for visitors from Vietnam, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Diplomat Le Thi Thu Hang said that on September 30, Singapore announced the decision to open the border to visitors from Vietnam from October 8, 2020.

According to Singaporean authorities, to enter Singapore from October 8, 2020, about 7 to 30 days before the expected date of entry, visitors from Vietnam must apply online to be approved. After entry, visitors will have to take a Covid-19 test and install a Covid-19 epidemic tracing application on their personal phones.


If the test result is negative, the traveler is free to travel in Singapore. In case of a positive test result and need for treatment in Singapore, the traveler must bear all related medical costs.


On the same day, the Singapore Embassy in Hanoi also informed the Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs about this, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to facilitate entry of citizens in line with the situation. disease on each side.


In addition to Vietnam, Singapore has unilaterally opened its borders to visitors from Australia, New Zealand and Brunei.


The Sydney Morning Herald online newspaper reported that the Singapore Aviation Authority on October 1 confirmed that Vietnam had no community-transmitted Covid-19 cases in the past 28 days, while the rate of Covid-19 in Australia is very low, only 0.02 cases per 100,000 people, so the risk that the disease can enter Singapore from these two countries is very low.


Singapore assessed that "Australia and Vietnam both have closely monitored health systems and have been successful in controlling the spread of Covid-19".
